Admissions to USC Rossier programs are competitive and selective. The Admissions Committee seeks students whose academic background, professional goals, personal commitment, and communication skills meet the demands of our rigorous programs.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

All applicants must have a bachelors’ degree from an accredited institution. Prior coursework in education is not required. Applicants whose prior study was outside the United States must have completed the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree. For specific requirements by country, refer to the country-by-country listing of grade and/or degree requirements.

Applicants whose native language is not English, and who do not have a bachelor’s degree from a U.S. college or university, will be required to submit a valid score from the TOEFL Internet-based Test (TOEFL IbT).

EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION

You will be asked to enter your past employers and upload your most current resume or curriculum vitae (CV).

PERSONAL ESSAYS

The application requires you to complete three essays. These essays allow the Admissions Committee to gain a deeper understanding of your past experiences and passions for the future. In addition, the essays allow you to demonstrate the written communication skills that are critical for success in the program.

RECOMMENDATION LETTERS

A minimum of two letters of recommendation is required for the MAT, and three are required for the ME. Letters should come from supervisors and colleagues who can comment on the value you have added to your workplaces, or former instructors who can describe your ability to perform well in graduate-level courses.

ORAL INTERVIEW

The Admissions Committee may require an oral interview with a candidate in order to assess English communication skills. The program content is delivered in English, so it’s critical to have the capacity to understand course materials and collaborate with classmates and faculty. Oral interviews may be arranged in person, via telephone, or through video-conference.

APPLICATION FEE

The USC application fee is $85.

TRANSCRIPTS

Sealed official academic transcripts must be sent directly from all postsecondary institutions you attended, including any community college coursework. Students with credentials from non-US institutions must also provide English language translations of all credentials. Credential evaluations from external agencies are not accepted.
