The Master of Arts in Teaching online (MAT online) program is designed for aspiring K–12 teachers eager to improve student outcomes in their classrooms, communities and cities.
This program prepares students to earn their preliminary teaching credential in California. Graduates are eligible to take the California teacher licensing exam.

Choose from Multiple Subject Teaching (primary school) or Single Subject Teaching (secondary school).
Customize Your MAT
Tailor your MAT to your interests by pursuing an optional California Education Specialist Credential or California Bilingual Authorization in Spanish. There are no additional units required, but you must complete additional exams and fieldwork. You can also pursue a Gifted Education Certificate by completing 4 units of additional coursework.
